Donations designated to help build a community will be used to provide safe water to communities.
We will dig wells in communities that don’t have wells and repair/modify existing wells to make the water safe to drink. Runoff from rains often contaminates a community’s well. We will devise and implement methods to prevent this, making well water safe for the community again.
Buy seeds and equipment for community gardens.
Building on traditional kuu practices, we will buy plots for community gardens, provide seeds and tools for planting new and existing community gardens, and provide training in agricultural methods to increase the yield and improve the quality of the crops.
Homes damaged or destroyed in the civil wars are still in disrepair; roofs and walls have holes and are caving in. Most homes do not have running water or access to electricity. Many families use a community latrine. Some “houses” are made of cardboard and metal. Our goal is to make homes safe to live in and useful as shelters from the elements by repairing roofs and walls so rain and wind do not blow in, and to build more latrines and teach sanitary methods to maintain and use them. Where possible, we will build community bathrooms with running water and sewage systems.
