We Provide Educational Opportunities and Distribute Supplies
Have you heard the old Chinese proverb, “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime?” At Ri’ayah, our goal is to provide children with educational tools and opportunities that will inspire them to become independent thinkers and future leaders to build a better tomorrow. By assisting children to survive to reach adulthood, we enable them to become self-supporting individuals who are able to care for themselves, their families, and contribute significantly to the future of their community.
Our project consists of several phases, which will be implemented in steps over a period of several years as we work to better the lives of the people in Liberia. For more than five years, we have been collecting and distributing food, medical supplies, clothes, hygiene products, books and school supplies to the homeless and needy in Liberia.

Expanding Our Efforts to Provide Help and Hope

In addition to the distribution of food and supplies, land has been purchased in Clay Ashland to build a school and an orphanage. When these are completed and are operational, a health center will be built and opened—one that will cater to the needs of the people and not send them away because they can’t afford to pay or if they failed to bring their own gloves. Supplies and aid will continue to be distributed and provided to other areas in need, with the goal of eventually building/upgrading healthcare and educational facilities throughout Liberia.

Fresh Water to Prevent Water-Borne Disease

Programs are currently in progress to create fresh water sources and train local personnel to maintain them. Education concerning the water sources will include the importance of fresh, sanitary water to health. Currently, diseases such as hepatitis A and E and typhoid fever are widespread because of the practice of drinking from the same river water used for body waste disposal.

Our goal is to make schools a haven—a place not only to learn, but to receive the meals and healthcare they need to be able to concentrate on learning instead of having to constantly scavenge for food just to survive.
All donations go towards our efforts to render aid, so we rely on volunteer work. We are constantly looking for motivated people who desire to bring real change into the lives of those who need it most!
